On February 6, 2023, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 on the Richter scale struck along the border of Syria and Turkey. Monday February 20, the region was hit by another earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 just a couple of weeks after the previous earthquake. This has left more than 1,000,0000 people without a home and has claimed the lives of nearly 46,000 people. The strength of the most recent earthquake was so substantial that it was felt in neighboring countries such as Jordan, Cyprus, Israel, Lebanon, and Egypt.
